Mounted Tank Training is an 8-day Capstone Field Training Exercise for graduation from AOBC.  During the exercise, the 64 2LTs of the class operate every station of the 16 tanks which make up a 4 platoon tank company.   Each 2LT gets an opportunity to drive (very scarey thought), load, gun (with lasers), and TC (tank command).  While we will only serve as TCs when we reach the Army, knowing the other stations help us to operate the vehicle more effectively.

To pass the exercise, each lieutenant must receive an Operations Order from the company commander and conduct effective Troop Leading Procedures to execute a mission.  Approximately four missions are run per day for four days to give each lieutenant an opportunity to lead the platoon and be evaluated by the cadre.  The final two days of the exercise are dedicated to a company-size mission (all four platoons) while the first two days are used mainly for drivers familiarization.

The Short Bus without a doubt was the most effective platoon during MTT.  While the other platoons were getting waxed by the OPFOR (OPposing FORce) every mission, we held our own with the bad guys, winning about half of our engagements. Throughout the week we worked as a very tight unit, used effective cross-talk within the platoon, and displayed a high-level of proficiency in our crew duties.
